MH co-produces music for Danish feature film Out Of Bounds with composer Rasmus Bille Bahncke. The film enters the official selection at Cannes Film Festival, and wins Gold Price at Marrakech Film Festival.
Also, new Hess Is More soundtrack for Amnesty International 50th Anniversary Film.

Longtime live collaboration with Nikolaj Hess & Jenno is celebrated with release of the vinyl EP 'Democracy', MFD & Nublu Records.
New incarnation of the live band takes form: Hess Is More - ? Now a six piece band of New York based musicians, fronted by Mikkel Hess.
3 month concert residency at Nublu Club, featuring collaborations with various visual and performance artists, curated by Claire Grube, Jacob Wildschiødtz and Mikkel Hess.
Live shows also include Celebrate Beooklyn Festival and 3 outdoor shows at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen.
MH composes music for danish feature film 'Camping' and produces score in collaboration with Rasmus Bille Bahncke.
'Hess Is More - Hits' released on Music For Dreams, and exclusively for USA & Canada, released on New York based label Nublu Records. Release supported by release of vinyl EP with remixes by The Revenge, Pete Herbert & Zombie Disco Squad.
Various live performances include show at 'Tivoli Concert Hall' in Copenhagen. The show features stage decoration by Danish art star Tal R.
Release of 'Denial' on MFD - a concept album in three parts. The album also features Sylvia Gordon of the band KUDU, who starts guest performing with the live band in New York City. Touring include two shows at the brand new playhouse of The Royal Theatre in Copenhagen.
MH moves to New York and establishes studio in NOHO together with producer and composer Rasmus Bille Bahncke & Creative Director Jacob Wildschiødtz / NR2154.
Performance and recording at Wood Wood store in Copenhagen, released as 'Hess Is More - Live at Wood Wood'.

First version of "Hess Vibskov Tromme Fredag" (Drum Friday) hits the road. "Pack the van with drums and take it to the people".
'Hess Is More - Captain Europe' released on Music For Dreams. The album introduces Vietnamese / Norwegian vocalist Bang Chau on the duet 'Yes Boss' - The first track to get heavy airplay and broader international attention through various compilations.

MH writes music for 'Rosenkrantz and Guildenstern are dead' at Aveny Theatre in Copenhagen. Album of same name is released on Music For Dreams as soundtrack for the play.
Hess Is More Live play various shows abroad, including first shows in New York City at Monkeytown & Nublu.
First international release on MFD is 'Hess Is More - Tip Top Dynamo', a revised edition of 'The Soundtrack'.
Tip Top Dynamo recieved a Danish Music Award Jazz (Danish Grammy) as Best new name 2006
New live band takes form with brother Nikolaj Hess and longtime collaborator Jenno.
First big show at Roskilde Festival with special guest performance by Charlotte Munck and the large format crew 'Ultraktement'.
MH writes music for the play 'The Europeans' at The Royal Theatre, and performs the shows along with Jenno.
2004: First touring in DK with small formats 'Hess Is More - DIY' and 'Hess Is More - bring your parents tour'.
These performance include audience participation, as MH hands out instruments to everyone in the crowd, and conducts the collective play along.
MH signs with Music For Dreams - an independent label formed by DJ Kenneth Bager.
MH composes, produces and performs music for 'Wind in the willows' at the old stage of 'The Royal Theatre' in Copenhagen. Stage appearance is build around a custom made "high tech barrel organ".
First album 'Hess Is More - The Soundtrack' is presented as soundtrack for the play - released by Boinkbox, a creative collective. The release is supported by Copenhagen based Superstar Records.
MH get's his hands on laptop and sound interface - decides to spends 3 month in Rio de Janeiro. During this stay MH works on a bunch of music that lead to the incarnation of 'Hess Is More' as a musical project - a phrase originally invented by Mikkel's mum.
In the summer MH graduates as soloist after 5 years of studies at the Rhythmic Conservatory in Copenhagen. The legendary drummer Ed Thigpen having been a great influence, through 3 years as MH's main professor.
Graduation concert catches great deal of attention with a large orchestra of unusual instrumentation conducted by Mikkel's brother Nikolaj. Performance titled "Hess Is More".
Movies and various performance elements are also a part of the show, further hinting the stretch "less is more / too much is not enough"
MH grows up in Denmark, plays drums from early age, and starts to pick up other instruments along the way. MH tours and records with various artists. Main interest is in Jazz music, yet visits are paid to other genres.
Through collaborations with the Danish Film School and bands Povo, Luke & Listen Up, MH explores film scoring, studio production and song writing.
